Grad culture is a drinking culture. Many of the gatherings and parties we attend (or even host) include alcohol. How are we to think about drinking and drunkenness as a Christian? If we think drinking appropriate, what should our practices be? If we think we should refrain, how do we do this in social contexts where this is accepted or even seems to be expected? Why do Christians differ about this stuff?

Pastor Miron Lee of Grace United Methodist Church and the International Christian Fellowship (Se Kyung's Pastor!) will be speaking. This is a question among Korean as well as American Christians and, as we've discussed in recent weeks, there is much we can learn from brothers and sisters in other cultural contexts!

Location: We will meet in the Ohio Staters Traditions Room on the second floor of the Ohio Union. We will start at 6:30 and end by 8 pm, after which we will go out to an inexpensive restaurant.

The Word on the Picnic! Thanks for your feedback. Based on what we've heard, we will move our picnic to Saturday, June 5 at 3 pm at our home, 8315 Yuma Drive, Powell, OH 43065. The theme stays the same: International. So bring international food, wear any international clothing you have and be prepared for a good time. We will say good-byes to graduates as well as unveil our new leadership team! Lots of good stuff!

The university world we operate in looks increasingly multi-cultural. Should our Christian communities and churches look like this? And while we may be one in Christ, we may differ on many important things from the kind of food and music we enjoy to our ideas on leadership and gender roles. Is culturally diverse Christian community an ideal to strive for or even possible?

Our speaker is well qualified to address this question. Sriram Sridharan is a Hindu convert to Christianity and leads the undergraduate ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at the Ohio State University. He is a gifted leader and speaker and works with a multi-ethnic team which gives leadership to a multi-ethnic chapter, a chapter for African-American students and a chapter for Asian-American students.

Time and Location: We will meet at 6:30 pm in The Ohio Staters Inc. Traditions Room located on the second floor of the Ohio Union to the right of the grand staircase. After the meeting we go out to eat at a nearby restaurant selected on our Yahoo Group poll. To join, visit the CGSA website, go to the 'contact us' section and follow the instructions for joining the Yahoo Group.

Last week we announced that this Friday's CGSA will be a little different in several ways:

1. It will not be at the Union but rather at the home of Gary and Peggy Nielsen, 542 Blenheim Rd, Columbus, OH 43214.
2. Rather than going out to eat, we will all bring food and enjoy it together in a comfortable, home setting!.
3. Also, we hope you will bring friends, especially those you've had conversations with about faith (friends don't need to bring food).

Topic and Speaker: The topic is "Why Evil in the World?"--one of the topics you all suggested last quarter. Gary Nielsen, our host will speak. Gary is an InterVarsity volunteer and also volunteers with PEER Servants, a microfinance organization. Gary's presentation will be similar to our regular meetings but there will be no worship time.

One of the puzzling phenomena of the Protestant Reformation is the sheer number of different denominations that arose out of this split with the Roman church. For some this raises questions about the legitimacy of the Reformation--was this a good thing? For some, it raises fundamental questions about the Christian message--if we are supposed to be one in Christ, why so many divisions?

Rev. Jack Watson will speak with us about this question. Jack is pastor emeritus of Bethel Presbyterian Church and director of the Anselm Institute. He's been a regular speaker to CGSA, presenting to us last fall on C S Lewis.

Time and Location: We will be meeting at 6:30 pm in the Ohio Stater's Traditions Room on the second floor of the Ohio Union. Visitor parking is available in the garage next to the Union. For those with permits, nearby parking is available in the law school lot or street parking on W 11th. Afterwards, we will go out for dinner at the restaurant that won our Yahoo poll. To join the Yahoo group, go to www.osu-cgsa.org and go to the contact us page and follow the instructions.

Thursday Night Main Event. This is the culminating event of the Price of Life Invitational. If you have not been able to attend any of the other events, consider coming tonight and bring friends. This has been an incredible week and tonight will be the last chance for most of us to connect with it. It will be at 7 pm tonight in the Archie Griffin Ballroom of the Ohio Union.
