Friday, July 16, 2010, 03:46 PM - Friday Meetings
Friday is coming, and that means the next installment in our summer series on culture, the arts, and faith. John Acker, a second-year PhD student in the English Department, will be leading us in a discussion focused on the question, "How can/should Christian artists represent sin and a fallen world?" If the technology complies, the plan is to start by looking at a song/music video and then move on to a discussion of more literary material.
Location: For the summer quarter, CGSA will be meeting in the Maudine Cow Room, located in the basement of the Union. We will gather at 6:30 and end by 8:00, at which time we will migrate to a restaurant of our choosing.

This Friday we will be continuing our summer series on culture, the arts, and faith. Hannah Rockey, a student in the MFA program here at OSU, will lead a discussion focused on drama. What is drama for? How can Christians in the field approach their work? We'll talk about these and other questions, and the evening may also include a participatory dimension. Get ready! It should be a fun and stimulating discussion.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010, 10:49 PM - Friday Meetings
Instead of a regular meeting this week, we will be heading downtown for Red, White, and Boom. As we have done in past years, we will gather on campus--this time in the Maudine Cow Room (basement of the Union)--at 6:30 and have dinner at a nearby establishment. After dinner, we will take the bus downtown and make our way toward Long St. and Battelle Park to find a place to watch the show.
Things you might want to bring with you:
1) games (e.g. playing cards or small board games) to pass the time until the fireworks at 10:00
2) cash (in case you get hungry while we're downtown)
3) blanket (or something else to sit on)

Friday, June 25, 2010, 01:46 PM - Friday Meetings
This Friday evening will be the first meeting in our summer series focusing on culture, the arts, and faith. Over the course of the summer, we will look at a variety of arts and fields of culture--from music and drama to sports and politics--and think about how we as Christians can engage with and participate in culture and the arts. As a way of setting the stage for the rest of the series, this week's meeting will focus on the story of culture in the Bible, with special emphasis on the visions of the Holy City found in Isaiah 60 and Revelation 21-22.
Location: For the summer quarter, CGSA will be meeting in the Maudine Cow Room, located in the basement of the Union. We will gather at 6:30 and end by 8:00, at which time we will migrate to a restaurant of our choosing.
